ARCO is a Vermont Corporation formed for the purpose of serving our limited membership while providing guidance for living in harmony with neighbors and nature.
***ARCO ROAD CLOSURE***
Hello ARCO Family,
First and foremost, the board has received several inquiries about watching the eclipse in Averill. While this is a once in a lifetime event for most, and the path travels directly over Averill, the board has been in constant communication with Weyerhauser who has advised we close the Jackson Road gate.
Considering the eclipse, though, a one-time exception as to how the road closure typically happens will be made for ARCO members only, and their guests. [Emphasis added.]
As of Monday, April 8, 2024, no heavy vehicles or delivery trucks will be allowed on the road.
For ARCO members who wish to view the eclipse, the Jackson Road gate will be closed and locked with a combination lock on Sunday, April 7, 2024. With the influx of out-of-towners, this is for your security and to preserve the road as much as possible.
ARCO members planning on watching the eclipse at camp will need to contact Patrick Ryan via email for the combination. Please refer to the email sent to ARCO members for contact information.
ARCO members may unlock the gate to enter Jackson Road; but must immediately lock the gate behind them to prevent excess traffic on the already softening roads. This applies to travel to and from your camps.
For those who choose to watch the eclipse in Averill, travel on the Jackson Road after the combination lock is installed will be at your own risk. The roads are extremely soft. ARCO will not be liable for any damage caused by road conditions. Please use caution when entering.
Considering the inevitable Spring warm up, accompanied by Spring rain causing mud season madness, the Board plans to remove the combination lock, and officially close and lock the gate at 5:00 pm Tuesday, April 9, 2024. [Emphasis added]
Please plan accordingly and visit properties as time permits prior to 5:00 pm on Sunday, April 7, 2024, to remove any valuables and close your camps. Representatives will check properties on April 9th to ensure no one remains behind the gate prior to it being officially locked on April 9th at 5:00 pm.
As a reminder, once the road is closed, no wheeled vehicles, including cars, trucks, tractors, ATVs, golf carts, etc. are allowed on any roads beyond the gate. Supposing you need to retrieve property or valuables while the gate is closed it must be on foot.
As weather permits, the road will reopen. With the help of a mild winter, gentle Spring breezes, and rising temperatures, previous seasons suggest the closure will likely last 4-6 weeks. The Board will keep you informed when the roads are passable, and the gate reopens.
Please monitor this site for further road information.
NOTE· No ATV’s or other off-road vehicles (including golf carts) are allowed on the roads at any time of the year. This applies to all ARCO members and non-members.
Please contact any member of the ARCO Board directly with any questions or concerns.
Thank you.
Thank you to everyone who attended the 2023 Annual ARCO meeting.
Please note that the UTG has a dog ordinance. All pets must be under the control of the camp owner at all times. Dogs must be leashed at all times when leaving your property. During the summer months you will find lots of little children, parents and guests walking the roads. Please be mindful of your dog(s) and other people around you. Contact the UTG directly for the full ordinance policy. 802-723-5900.
Any questions or concerns please contact any member of the ARCO Board.
Thank you.
Both water wells were tested on 7/20/23 by Capital Well Clean Water Center. Test results can be found on the well water results tab.
